Wo/Men of our Word(s)

Firstly, we've got to tell you how great Blacklight Theatre's Taleblazers was last night.  There were whoops and hollers throughout the evening, and it was praise well-deserved - every team (behind the 6 short plays) worked their little butts off to bring the night to a seriously high standard.  Everyone had a lot of fun, and we're hotly anticipating the next one!

Secondly, a secret: Nabokov's Festival Of The Dead at the BAC (where Quilt’s poet in residence Isley Lynn will be performing a set) is offering a half price ticket deal for Friday night's revelries if you call the BAC and quote "OVNV" when booking.  Tickets are usually £20, but the password will get you it for £10! That's a huge reduction, and since the whole place will be crammed full of *Guardian-recommended* music, comedy, poetry, theatre, circus stuff and more, that's a serious bargain! So if you want a chance to have a great time this Friday, book quick!

Lastly, we've got a promised present for you.  And here it is: You lucky people - right here, just for you, are the fruits of our most recent labours.  Matt Thomas's stunning portraiture proved particularly useful for "True Love" - The Truth publicity, and though we shot hundreds of photographs during the session, here’s one of our favourites:

And Olga Avramenko's incredible ink-work is the perfect partner to the poems performed, which will also be available in a little book, brought to life by her inspired illustrations.  Here's  one of the first brain-storming sketches we worked with:
And we'll be unveiling the final publication when it's finished.  Stay tuned!

The Best Bad News Ever

We were going to remind you all that Isley Lynn's little drama The Interview is on tonight at the Southwark Playhouse as part of Blacklight Theatre's Taleblazers, but it wouldn't do you much good - we've sold out!  There's already a lengthy waiting list, so if you booked in advance, congratulations - you're a member of a very select, well-organised group!  For everyone else, we'll be telling you how it went a bit later, but for now wish the team luck for the six new shorts that will be staged tonight in front of a full house!

More Quilt Collaborations

In preparation for big things where "True Love" - The Truth is concerned, Isley Lynn has teamed up with other Quilt creatives to make some stunning publicity for the show, including a photo shoot with the talented Matt Thomas, and illustrations from the breath-taking Olga Avramenko.  The snaps were snapped this morning and the sketches sketched this afternoon, so watch this space for sneak peeks at the creative process, and the finished results!

Dead or Alive

The skeleton has no excuse now - there will be plenty of bodies flocking to the BAC, London for the Nabokov Arts Club Halloween extravaganza, this October 28/29, where our appropriately-pale Isley Lynn will be performing a short set of her poetry.  She’ll be alongside heavyweight poets like Scroobius Pip and Polar Bear, as well as more musicians, comedians, dancers and performers that you can shake a witch’s claw at, so this is certainly not a night to be missed!  Get your tickets ASAP (they sell out quick) here:

Blaze of Glory

More good news on the writing front - Isley Lynn’s very short, very jocular The Interview has been selected to be performed as part of Blacklight Theatre’s Taleblazers at the Southwark Playhouse.  For a super cheap ticket you can rock up on the 23rd October to see hers and other emerging playwright’s short wares given full staging in the capital!

That Fabulous Festival on the Farm

Isley Lynn gave an intense performance of her solo show “True Love” - The Truth for the lovely Hemstock crowd yesterday.  Here’s a sample of what they said:

“Shocking and thought-provoking”

“Refreshing to hear something so personal”

“So generous”

“Impossibly brave”

Thanks to Hemstock-goers for being a great guinea pig audience!

Past Praise

Following her involvement with TrailBlaze Theatre’s The Rotten Wedding, Isley Lynn has been given a flattering introduction indeed on their News page - read all about it at http://www.trailblazetheatre.co.uk/#!__news, and if you browse their blog to the 24th March you’ll get a flash from the past when Isley first came on board with the Rotten Wedding project!

Hot Stuff

A little good news - Isley Lynn’s short fiction The Heat has won her second place in IdeasTap’s Editor’s Brief: HEATWAVE competition!  She’ll be receiving cash into her bank account and more kudos on her IdeasTap account.  See what they said about her second wining entry here:

Kidney Culture

Rob Sherman, Writer Of Weird Stuff in residence here at Quilt, is having his acclaimed short play Borborygmus performed as part of InShort @ The Atrix, on the 3rd September.  This will be the second performance of the mini drama about kidneys going on holiday, and we promise, never has there been a more riveting piece written about innards.  Go see for yourself:

A pound of poetry

Another date for your diaries - Isley will be performing “True Love” - The Truth as part of the Cockpit Theatre’s Theatre In The Pound in February (more details on our Writing Page).  It’s a great night, not only because Isley will be there, but because for her and all the other acts you only have to pay a single pound!  No excuse now to see Isley’s inimitably intimate new show!

31/07/11

Spread the words

Isley Lynn’s solo show “True Love” - The Truth is making baby steps towards a UK tour next year.  We know that’s a long time to wait, so in the meantime we’re putting up the ENTIRE PERFORMANCE at the 2011 Exeter Fringe Festival online for you to see!  We’ll be putting up the show in instalments of one poem at a time to Isley’s Facebook fanpage (www.facebook.com/isleylynnpoetry) lucky you!  But there’s a catch: each instalment will only go online once she reaches the next 5-person mark in fans (ie the first poem will go up when she reaches 50 fans, then the next when she hits 55 and so on...) - so what are you waiting for?  Spread the word about Isley’s inimitable anti-prose and bag yourself a free online performance!

30/07/11

On the horizon

As Philipp Ehmann packs his bags for Vienna, where he’ll be embarking on an attachment with the Theatre der Jugend (http://www.tdj.at/) Isley Lynn learns her lines for this year’s Hemstock Festival (http://hemstockfestival.co.uk/project/isley-lynn/) and prepares as much as she can for the surprise briefs that will be thrown at her as part of Hannah Pring’s Wittering Women.  Here’s what the project’s curator is saying:

“A participatory project interrogating a series of topics relating to the lives of women, cross generational, inter-cultural and interdisciplinary.  The project aims to develop an online forum of discussion and research.  Each week a topic will be posted via email to all contributors to which each individual female will respond in any form they desire. A single word, written text, translations of conversations, photography etc. There are no specifications in terms of medium; it is up to the individual to respond in a manner which they deem appropriate. Once a topic has been posted there is a five day deadline until the responses, ‘wittering’ are to be posted back to myself, all the ‘wittering’ will then be accumulated to produce a weekly ‘witter ‘which will be circulated to all contributors to fuel the next weeks ‘wittering’.”

There will be a public installation of the contributions in South London during September.  Stay tuned for more...

We’re big in Paris, dahling

Across the Channel, LadyFest Paris ’11 went down a storm, and our contact Caroline Milsom was there to soak up a great response to our little documentary Une Symphonie en Cellulite.  It was on demand throughout the day at little TV hubs dotted around the festival, and proved impossibly popular.  Here’s one LadyFester engrossed:

...and this is what she’s seeing:
- look closely and you can just about see Isley Lynn’s shadowy profile on the screen.  There, now you can pretend you were there too!

And yet another chance to see Aftershocks

Aftershocks has its public performance this Thursday, and as tickets sold so fast for the 6.30pm showing the National Theatre Studio has decided to open up for a another performance slot that night, with this one starting just after at 8.30pm!  So if you were devastated at not being able to get a ticket (don’t be shy, we know a lot of you were) you can grab a free seat for 8.30 by reserving it through the National Theatre Website:

Playing poetical

After a positively pleasant evening of poetry-inspired shorts last night, Isley Lynn’s online contribution Lost In Living is now available for download/viewing here:

http://onlineshortcuts.ning.com/forum/topics/julys-2011s-online-short-cuts

It’s already getting good feedback, so have a scan yourself and see if you think it deserved a live performance. Then tell Short Cuts!

It’s not official until it’s on Facebook

Isley Lynn has a facebook fan page.  Not a huge development, but if you’re a fan of her poetry then you should probably become a fan of this:

From festival to festival, all the way to France

The Exeter Fringe had come to an end.  After almost a fortnight of feverish festivities, everything’s getting wrapped up and put away for next year.  Mum’s The Word aptly ended in a spectacular yet tragic tone, but the huge collection of artists and practitioners all gather tonight at the Bike Shed theatre in high spirits to celebrate the success of this year’s fringe.  We’ve all had a blast, made some fabulous new friends and will be very sorry to leave it all behind us.

But shed no tears, because just as the events in Exeter are ending, the pace is picking up in Paris where LadyFest ’11 starts today!  Isley Lynn and Caroline Milsom’s filmic collaboration Une Symphonie en Cellulite will be screening over the two day festival, and if you happen to be in the city of love you can go along!  Get yourself to this very cool venue:

www.lecomptoirgeneral.com

And if that wasn’t enough, things are in full swing for this year’s Hemstock Festival, where Isley will be making another appearance with her solo show “True Love” - The Truth.  See what’s in store here:

The truth about “True Love” - The Truth

We’re halfway through the Exeter Fringe Festival and “True Love” - The Truth had its last performance last night.  Plans are now in the works for a UK tour of the show, and to whet your appetite, here’s what people have been saying about Isley Lynn’s sensational solo show:

“It blew me away.”

Emily Wiliams, Barbican Theatre Plymouth

“Amazing modern poetry. It's adult, it's very clever, and it will have you splitting your sides.  Incomparable.”

Jeremy Child

“Very honest and sincere… I feel moved and changed.”

– Monique Luckman, Wide Awake Devon

“Isley Lynn's amazing poetry show was as close to a perfect performance as I've seen: open, funny, clever, truthful, moving, touching. Isley is a wonderful writer and a great performer that draws you in rather than shouting at you. Look out for it in the future.”

David Lockwood, Bike Shed Theatre

The next opportunity to catch the show is at Hemstock festival:

ON AIR

Isley Lynn’s solo poetry show “True Love” - The Truth starts its run tonight at 9pm, but before she takes the mic she just has a split second of time to talk to Shep and Jo at BBC Radio Devon about what’s in store for the audience.  If you don’t catch her little interview as part of their drivetime show (she’ll be making an appearance at 6.25pm) then you can listen again at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00hckq8 - we’ll also be putting the discussion up on our Radio page so you can listen at your leisure.  Of course you can get the full experience live and in person at the gorgeous, intimate, outdoor space at the Rusty Bike, where Isley will be mouthing off tonight, tomorrow and Sunday evening!

And we’re live

With grief we would like to invite you to Celina’s memorial service. It will be held in the Rusty Bike on 23rd June 2011 at 2:30pm. Informal but smart dress. Celina died last Monday and will be sorely missed by her friends and family.

Mum’s The Word begins today with its first live installment.  There’s still time to get involved in what is already looking to be an exciting experiment.  The game has been playing out online for the last week and now it gets personal.  Tickets from the Exeter Phoenix:

22/06/11

It’s ON!

THE EXETER FRINGE FESTIVAL IS OFFICIALLY UNDERWAY!  With a swinging launch night last night at the Bike Shed Theatre and a splendid photo shoot and interviews with local press (go to: http://www.thisisexeter.co.uk/expanding-city-fringe-launched/story-12813513-detail/story.html to see Isley Lynn’s windblown grin) we’re definitely off to a flying start!  Mum’s The Word (details on our Theatre page) is way ahead though, with their online and interactive part of the show having been live and kicking since Monday, whereas “True Love” - The Truth (details on our Writing page) is currently undergoing final tweaks and touches to make sure it rips your heart apart.  Tickets for all the shows can be found at the Exeter Phoenix - http://www.exeterphoenix.org.uk/ - and they’re going fast, so don’t be shy!  Remember, Mum’s The Word is the cheapest show at the Fringe, and certainly the most innovative, while “True Love” - The Truth has a twist that’ll leave you gasping in your seats!

06/06/11

That’s a wrap!

Things are getting all Hollywood with the Quilt family, as two film projects come to completion.  First up is Hannah Shaw-Williams’ Friend Good, which is finished and on its way to a dozen different festivals all over the place.  Sneaking in on her glory are also Rob Sherman, providing his delicate, distinctive touch to the opening and closing score, while Philipp Ehmann and Isley Lynn have somehow managed to wrangle Executive Producer titles without having to lift a finger.

The other exciting cinematic creation is the collaboration between Isley Lynn and Caroline Milsom, which has just finished shooting and now has the proper title: A Symphony In Cellulite (the body fat, not the film material).  Bound for the LadyFest arts festival in Paris, but currently in post-production, we’ll update you on its progress as soon as we can, but you can snoop around what’s happening at the festival at: http://www.kisskissbankbank.com/projects/ladyfest-paris-2011-1ere-edition-cet-ete

Hot dates for your diary

Right then, things are getting underway with Philipp and Isley’s Exeter Festival shows Mum’s The Word and “True Love” - The Truth, full details of which can be found on our Theatre page.  Details of ours and all other shows participating in the fringe can be found at the official website: http://www.exeterfringe.org.uk/.  Online tickets go on sale on the 8th June, but you can already secure yourself seating over the phone on 01392 667080.  You’ve been crouching on the tarmac all this time, and now the gun’s gone off - run run run!  We’ll see you at the finish line!

Making the cut

Good news for all our distant fans - Isley Lynn’s work will now be shared online for all to enjoy, following her being selected for Live Lab’ Short Cuts:Poetic License competition.  Though her submitted play (Lost In Living) won’t be performed, it will be shared at the Short Cuts website (below) from the 7th July.  So go ahead and enjoy some fantastic free theatre, with no need for anything but a screen and an internet connection!

Not just a sing song!

Mark Ruddick, bad-boy in residence and all around outdoorsy type, has smartened himself up to work for the world-class Glyndebourne Opera.  We’re incredibly pleased to announce that he’s been working as fight co-ordinator and performer for their production of Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg (that’s Wagner, to any plebs out there).  His run starts TONIGHT and details can be found on the Glyndebourne website:

Second Shock

Good news - the National Theatre Studio so enjoyed the cracking job their Aftershocks team did last summer, they want it all over again!  This time as part of the Infinite Festival of new works from London.  As this performance will be open to the public, everyone is welcome to attend the show on the 14th July, and see our very own Isley Lynn performing her own, heartbreaking contribution to a seriously shocking show.

10/05/11

The more the merrier!

Another collaboration in the works for the prolific Isley Lynn, this time with Running For Beginners’ Caroline Milsom.  They’ll be working on a short film together, with the title brief of “Bodies” for this year’s Ladyfest Paris: www.kisskissbankbank.com/projects/ladyfest-paris-2011-1ere-edition-cet-ete.  We’re all looking forward to seeing what they come up with, but if you can’t wait, here’s a sneak peak of Caroline’s past work: http://vimeo.com/user3282827

Time for a honeymoon

After 5 sell out shows, 4 star reviews, lots of penicillin, sweat, aches, pains and alcohol, Trailblaze’s run of the fabulous The Rotten Wedding has finally come to an end.  It really was spectacular, and you can read for yourself in this lovely review: http://thelatest.co.uk/7/reviews-brighton-festival-fringe-the-rotten-wedding.  We’d also really appreciate it if you saw the show (or even, honestly, if you didn’t!) if you could visit the fringe festival website and vote for it here:

It’s all been very exciting, but we doubt they’ll be relaxing for too long – on to the next show!

24/04/11

And a pinch of poetry...

Another performance to add to the books, Isley Lynn is working on a new poetry show “True Love” - The Truth, to be performed at the Exeter Fringe Festival, as well as Hemstock charitable festival:

We were going to become famous, get married, have babies and be together forever. Then we broke up. So what the hell happened? As he starts a family with his new girlfriend (who is skinnier than me) I’m left rummaging through all the poetic genius I wasted on him (and all the others) trying to figure out who’s fault it all was.  Though, obviously, it’s always his…

Performance dates and time up soon, so don’t forget to check back!

MAIN HEADLINE: CAT ESCAPES BAG

The secret’s out!  Isley Lynn and Philipp Ehmann have revealed the project they’ve been keeping under wraps for the last few weeks, aptly titled Mum’s The WordThis is a unique, episodic theatre performance taking place as part of this year's Exeter Fringe Festival, spanning the entire 11 days of the festival.  Part theatre, part pervasive game, all the action is played out live and online with one-to-one performances, group spectacles and interactive installations. Talk to the Celina’s friends and family, root through her belongings, swap discoveries with other audience members, and find out why her life’s end is only the beginning…

Get frenzied!

As if she didn’t have enough to be getting on with already, Isley Lynn has decided to undertake the notorious writing challenge ScriptFrenzy!  Over the month of April, she must write 100 pages of a new, unplanned script, and if she completes this colossal task, she will be crowned a winner!  She’ll even receive a certificate!  She’ll need a lot of encouragement, so go on and track her progress here: www.scriptfrenzy.org/eng/user/804368

Follow a now teenage Alice as she revisits her shattered memories of wonderland.

Performing on the National Stage

After having spent a long time writing and rewriting a play of monologues, along with 13 others, Isley Lynn will be showcasing her response to the National Theatre’s Earthquakes in London on the 14th December.  Alas it’s an invite-only audience, but we thought it was worth letting you know that all that effort is culminating in a performance to industry professionals, as well as friends and family.  We wish her luck!

10/09/10

Not so shocking

Our Writer in Residence has received some wonderful news, and is doing us all proud:  she has been selected, along with 13 other young London-based writers, to take part in the National Theatre’s Aftershocks program.  They will be placed on a week-long course led by Inua Ellams and Kayo Chingonyi where they’ll creatively respond to the National’s Earthquakes in London (currently running in the Cottelsoe Theatre: www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/57273/productions/earthquakes-in-london.html).  We’re delighted she’s been chosen to participate, but not at all surprised, because we always knew she was rather brilliant.

AVALANCHE OF ACTIVITY

Goodness gracious, when it rains it pours.  Here’s the roundup of what’s been going down in Quilt Town lately:

Philipp Ehmann is rounding up his studies at Exeter University with a flurry of high marks and branching out into his own practice.  His newest work can be seen online (http://pjephotography.daportfolio.com) and right now he’s probably our favourite Quilt Company Member, keeping us alive and kicking with the Quilt Blog (http://quiltproductions.wordpress).  Take a gander at our Theatre page for his newest project with Quilt, Light&Sound.

Andrew Bate is busy working on several things at once; he’s gearing up for the first recording sessions at Sawmills (www.sawmills.co.uk) this weekend, plus making big plans with Phil Innes (www.philinnesmusic.co.uk) for the live album Lemon Street Live (more info on our Music page).  He’s also talking with an old buddy, Swedish superstar Tobias Froberg (www.tobiasfroberg.com/website) about traveling all the way to Stockholm and recording some sessions over there, European-style.

Isley Lynn is making waves in the literary world, though they may still be more on the ripples scale right now.  Catch her performance at Rob Sherman’s night of short plays and live lit Bacchus Blink (details on our Theatre or Writing pages).

Rob Sherman’s night of short plays and live lit Bacchus Blink (details on our Theatre or Writing pages).

Alice Lee-Fox (you haven’t hear of her yet, she’s new and she’s lovely) is putting her own distinctive mark on Messiah (check out our Theatre page for details) and we’ll be keeping you up to date on rehearsals, performances and other things to do with the project, which looks let to blow everyone’s mind.

Rob Sherman has a blog of his own.  Be transported to the lighter side of the moon and many other magical places at http://bonfiredog.tumblr.com

Sarah Alice Ogilvie (another newbie) is also, due to popular demand, putting her work up online for all to see.  Be amazed at http://sarahalice.tumblr.com

Mark Ruddick (another new edition for our ever-expanding company) has just finished working with Realm Pictures on a music video for the band The Quails (www.myspace.com/thequailsband) and is all over the place with various freelance projects.

Others to keep your eye on are Realm Pictures (www.realm-pictures.com) who have just premiered their wonderful feature film Zomblies (www.zomblies.com) to rapt audiences, and Particular Theatre (www.particulartheatre.co.uk) who have such a full schedule they’re having trouble fitting all that great art in!

Phew!  And with all that going on we’re always on the lookout for creative souls to contribute, so if you’re on the lookout for cool stuff or have cool stuff of your own let u know (visit our Contact page).

WHITE BOY TO FINALLY PLAY FUNKY MUSIC

THROW
YOUR ARMS UP!  SHOUT AND SING!  CELEBRATE!  (Or at least, that’s what we at Quilt are doing)  Next weekend, almost a year after putting the project into action, Andrew Bate and his now-official band go into the studio to record his upcoming album.  They’ve been sweating through endless rehearsals plus creative and legal meetings for the last ten months and everything is finally in place for the magic to begin - now all there is to wait for is the album itself, and don’t you worry, we’ll keep you in the loop on that one too!  If you can’t wait that long, have a peek at Phil’s blog:

quiltproductions.wordpress.com - for pictures and more.

DARK DUET

This is what it’s all about folks:  Andrew Bate has teamed up with associate artist Madii Shann to bring you a haunting rendition of Andrew’s menacing folk-ballad Drown.  Between Andrew’s chilling lyrics and the pair’s infectious vocals, this version (recorded in the living room at our headquarters in London) sets a lo-fi standard for what is to come in Andrew’s much-anticipated, fully-orchestrated album.  Of course, we’ll be putting it up on the site for you all to listen real soon.

(IN)DECENT EXPOSURE IN AUSTRIAN’S BLOG

Some of you will be aware that one of our prized and most wonderful members is Philipp Ehmann, resident Austrian and Cam-Guy.  He has taken it upon himself to keep you all updated on the itty bitty movements within the Quilt sphere from an informal Blog - here you can find snippets, musings and photos from his own, unique, fly-on-the-wall perspective, so check it out at http://quiltproductions.wordpress.com

LITTLE PLAY, BIG DEAL

Well well well, things are going swimmingly with the QUILT team; Andrew is getting rehearsals off to a flying start with some fabulous guest musicians, Philipp is finishing his degree with flying colours and our merry band is continuing their creative endeavours, albeit a little under the radar these days.  However, the biggest news lately is that Isley has managed to wangle herself a rehearsed reading of her short play Good Mourning, which will be performed by new writing company Particular Theatre in accompaniment to their main production The Distance.  This has made the little writer very proud and she urges you all to go and buy tickets, which are half price from the website (www.particulartheatre.co.uk) until the end of January!  If you’ve ever wondered about the practicalities and humour inherit in committing suicide this ditty of a play is for you, and you can see it and The Distance -which already has a big buzz about it- on the 8th and 9th Feb for £5!  Tiny play, tiny price!

A POETIC CENT-IMENT

Don’t you just love puns?  Anyone on Facebook should search for Mark Ruddick’s upcoming 100 Poems in 100 Days.  As Mark puts it: “It’s exactly what it says on the tin. I want 100 poems or spoken word performances to be performed in 100 days via the internet.  The project will require poets to film themselves performing an original poem or spoken word performance of their own creation and upload it to a specific youtube account from which it can be shared with the world.”  With such a fantastic opportunity to show off your talent and to hear other poets work, we’d be surprised if this didn’t turn into something much bigger than its current running from the 1st January to the 10th of April.  To get involved contact Mark at markruddick@live.co.ukWith over fifty members so far and dates quickly filling up we’re eagerly awaiting the poetic new year!

SECRET DEVELOPMENTS

Though we’ve taken a break from collaborative projects, that’s not to say things have been stagnant for members of the QUILT family.  Rob Sherman, one of our associates enjoyed great success with his play The God in the Well this week, directed by the very talented Henry Arthur, our newest edition to the extended team.  Philipp Ehmann also impressed sold-out (and freaked-out) audiences with his haunted house meets horror readings performance on Halloween night - Brother of Sleep - which saw audience members running out before the house lights came on.  Unfortunately due to distance and business these fine creative endeavours can only be enjoyed after the fact, so thanks to all our followers for hanging out while we all get a little indulgent - Andrew Bate with his current recording, Isley Lynn with her writing... - and we promise not to leave you in the dark about upcoming fun stuff ever again!

A HIATUS BREAK

If that didn’t make sense to you, it’s ok; it just means we’ve been on a little hiatus over the summer to get our act together and chill out, but to keep things funky we’ve broken that hiatus and released another ROUGH CUT for your enjoyment.  This time Chase Lynn becomes the first artist to contribute seriously punk sensibilities to the mix, and watch out for the language too.  Visit our Associate Artists Page for more on Chase and the Songs With A View Page to view the clip now and laugh more than a little bit.

ANOTHER ROUGH CUT - YIPEE!

Songs With A View is chugging along quite nicely, and thanks to the popularity of the ROUGH CUT series we’re feeling good about it all.  This week it’s Madii Shann, who gets quite philosophical really, and gives us one of the most interesting few days we’ve spent filming so far.  Visit the Songs With A View Page to see all three installments.

Songs With A View’s first ROUGH CUT available for viewing

The SWAV team have been terribly busy wading through the 11+ hours of footage gathered for their ambitious new project, and the fruits of their labours are finally coming to light for you lucky people!  The company are releasing a serious of “Rough Cuts” of the material, which singles out individual artists’ contributions to the project, while still leaving a little of the final product a mystery.  If you want to see how things are shaping up, visit the Songs With A View Page on this site, where you’ll find a sneaky preview of the first Rough Cut, featuring Rob Sherman.  Be warned though, Rob wanted his song to be filmed in a porn shop, so there’s a fair amount of adult material caught on tape...

A fistful of news:

  1. -Firstly, Temple of Nothing’s ‘Women Are Revolting’ performed their premier at the Exeter Phoenix last night to a packed audience, and conjured laughs, shock and tears, aided only a little by the use of onions.  The feedback is flowing back already, and it’s all rather rewarding.  Here’s to bigger and better in more far-flung places and spaces.

  2. -Secondly, if you’re worried that ‘Songs With A View’ has been somewhat sidetracked by Mr Ehmann rushing off to Austria for the summer, fear not - we have four wonderful artists to edit segments for, and you’ll be able to see the rough cuts very soon.  The project will pick up again in earnest in September, though much more relaxed this time.  For those who just can’t wait that long you have a treat in store - Philipp Ehmann has just officially announced his ambitious Halloween project, and is in pre-production for what is expected to be immersive, high-spectacle and absolutely terrifying.  Blending performance, installation, story-telling (of the ghost variety) and the classic form of a Haunted House, and taking on board a mass of artists along the way, our hearts are all pacing in anticipation, and yours should be too.  The proposed date?  You guessed it: October 31st.

  3. -And finally:  If you haven’t already, JOIN OUR MAILING LIST!  We’ll be able to put all this fun stuff straight in your inbox, and we promise it won’t be too often, only when something really exciting comes up.  And it couldn’t be easier: just send an email entitled “MAILING LIST” to isleyalynn@gmail.com and you can enjoy all Quilt activities from the comfort of your... email.

A new website – oh boy!

Here it is, shiny and spangley, a brand-new website.  Consider this your point of call for all Quilt-related developments, as well as profiles and information on the extended Quilt family.

Also to mention that all the artwork and graphics you see in the site

were the kind and loving design of Grace Peden, Resident Designer for Quilt and general nice person, while the website itself was thrown together by Isley Lynn.
