Quilting all over the internet
Quilt’s Company Director and Resident Artist Philipp Ehmann has a snazzy new site of his own. It looks glorious, so for more information on what he does outside and inside the Quilt bubble, check out:

Keeping occupied
As the full website for The Occupied Times goes live (have a look: http://www.theoccupiedtimes-show.com/) Associate Artist Chase Lynn comes aboard to lend his original musical compositions to the project. With the crew of creatives growing day by day, the event is shaping up to be very exciting indeed - as long as the movement aren’t booted out of the building before the performances!

Stories that sprint
Writer In Residence Isley Lynn first had her short play selected for a new writing night with Blacklight Theatre company. It was 3 pages. Now Blackshaw Theatre company have selected a piece of hers for their new writing night. It is a single page long. With no dialogue. If you’re up for seeing another one of her popular punchline plays, visit their website:

Everyone can get Forked!
In the wake of the festive season and in preparation for 2012, Quilt is heating up with all sorts of fun stuff happening behind the scenes - though we can’t chat too long about all the projects that are in development (we don’t want to jinx anything!) we thought we’d update you on those we can:
Philipp Ehmann is in heavy prep mode for his premiere at Theatre der Jugend in Vienna, so if you’re Europe-bound why not go and have a look see - http://www.tdj.at/

Also, Ultra-Man Mark Ruddick is raising funds for his latest film project with Realm Pictures, The Underwater Realm. You can visit their Kickstarter page here - http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/realmpictures/explore-the-underwater-realm?play=1&ref=search - to contribute to the growth of a seriously exciting company. They're almost there on this one, but they need your help!

The Occupied Times
Mr. German Munoz, big in the London writing scene and deeply engaged with the recent worldwide Occupy movements, is holding a night of new writing in response to the movement. He’s already involved our very own Isley Lynn, who will be contributing a short Living Newspaper-style piece along with other writers, and is on the lookout for directors and actors who are interested in participating. Get in contact if you’d like to be involved - there will be lots of meets in the run up to the shows and performances will be held on the 17th and 18th February at The Bank of Ideas (http://www.bankofideas.org.uk/welcome/) and then at the Arcola Theatre (http://www.arcolatheatre.com/index.php4) on the 19th February.

In The Flesh, on the Facebook
Gemma Ward was busy all night documenting the In The Flesh Festival, and along with her partner captured some stunning moments, including our own Isley Lynn performing her solo poetry show “True Love” - The Truth. Have a gander here:

Establishing a new genre of theatre
Philipp Ehmann, currently settled in Vienna with Theatre der Jugend and busy with much creativity, has found some time to write about a key interest of his practice. During their collaboration on Mum’s The Word, Isley and Phil had long discussions about the challenges they faced with this ground-breaking new form, and he’s particularly eloquent about said hurdles in this blog post, so have a good long read - it’s worth it:

True Love returns

News Just In: Plans are underway for Isley Lynn to return to Exeter with her solo poetry show “True Love” - The Truth, this time to be performed at the Bike Shed Theatre. The date for your diaries is the evening of Tuesday 13th March, and hopefully there will be workshops held by the poet herself during the day. More details to come soon, but for now if you’re interested in being involved get in touch through our Contact Us page.

A personal post from Plymouth - Isley Lynn
After a fabulously friendly performance of “True Love” - The Truth at the Rosemary Branch Theatre last night, I’m now sitting in the B-Bar of the Barbican Theatre Plymouth, waiting to perform it all over again tonight! I’m buzzing from excitement about tonight’s collection of shows that will make up night 2 of the In The Flesh Festival, and I can’t wait to see as many as possible! It’s great to be here with so many other theatre-makers, all bumbling along together. Here’s a pictures of my show in the program (with Olga Avramenko’s gorgeous illustration) which I’m pouring over right now:

Writing royalty

Writer in Residence Isley Lynn has just received some wonderful news - in May 2012 she will be joining the Royal Court Theatre on their Young Writer’s Programme. We’re very proud of our wannabe wordsmith, so please join us in congratulating her and wishing her the best of luck!

New Photos Page
As if we weren’t busy enough, we’ve been hard at work starting up a dedicated page for photographs from Quilt’s past productions for your viewing pleasure. The first few productions are up HERE.

Film flattery
After a “Killer Opening Night” at this year’s Underwire Festival, Caroline Milsom and Isley Lynn were pleased as punch with the screening of their short doc A Symphony In Cellulite, which is up for the XX Award. They were even more gleeful after reading their significant mention in the article posted by Jo Shaw of the evening’s events:
“Symphony in Cellulite (Dir. Caroline Milsom) takes a cubist approach to its portrait of life model and writer, Isley Lynn. Within a montage of close-up details which gradually broadens out, an artist draws her, her home reflects her, and she discusses her own and others’ ways of seeing her. Engaging and incisive, she is a veritable ambassador for the act of life-modelling and considers how it can transform the way we think about identity and where identity might be located. And in an acute observation of how we can sometimes look but not see, she describes the drawings of a few A-level students, where she appears either “grotesquely out of proportion” or like a fashion model. She puts this down to the students being so used to visualising learned images of women that they either exaggerate the differences her body presents or instead, simply draw the mental image they know.” - Jo Shaw
Not bad, eh? The winners of all the categories are announced on Saturday, the Ceremony is FREE and we’d love to see as many of you as possible there supporting the duo! As for the rest of the article, you can read it here:

It takes Allsortz
Isley Lynn will be performing a short set as part of Allsortz at Rich Mix tonight - the show starts at 7.30pm and it’s FREE, so come along if you can!

Good Work from Goodchild
The talented mr Sam Goodchild has taken some great photographs of Blacklight Theatre’s Taleblazers event, which will soon be up for view on our Photos Page. Have a gander and get jealous you couldn’t be there!

On the airwaves

Our multi-talented Sarah Ogilvie has landed herself a coveted internship with BBC Radio 4, working alongside the producers of Women’s Hour. No doubt it was her grace and charm that got her the slot! Listen to her contribution to the program in the form of interviews with various couples about how to keep a long-term relationship going, available to listen for the next week here:

1 Devil a day
Isley Lynn is no novelist, but is attempting to write 50,000 words of one in 30 days with NaNoWriMo. Wish her luck, and track her progress, and mock her when she fails here:
http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/participants/laninotsosilly/novels/ah/stats
(NB - the word count per day to complete the challenge is 1,666 - does this explain the title of the post a little better?)
